Cycling with our boys - 20/04/2011

The Box Hill boys in Bright

I had been very keen on the Bright mountain bike night ride tonight. I get very excited when I'm up here on a Wednesday night but the solid rain since lunchtime put an end to the idea.

Despite that, we got a fantastic ride in with the boys today. Steve, Lochie, Jack and I headed out to the Red Stag restaurant at the deer farm near Eurobin where we met the rest of our families. It was a very pleasant 15k ride and both boys made it with ease. Champions in the making!...



A couple of quite steep pinches near the end had them both in the hurt box but Jack and Lochie pushed hard in their smallest gears with plenty of hooting and hollering from the dads! They made it to the top with smiles on their faces and plenty of energy to get around the farm.

The rain hit shortly after this so smashing out some high threshold stuff with the Bright boys was soon off the cards.

It was a great day for our boys though and some great exposure for Cycleworks in the north east!

So much stuff to do - 18-04-2011

Other Porepunkah distractions have interupted my riding regime over the last week.

Yes... there is excesive fake squealing as well as genuine delight. But that's my girls!

Those distractions, plus the fact that I've really needed a bit of a rest off the bike anyway. The weekend of the Bright 6 hour followed by Marysville to Melbourne really took it out of me so a bit of an offie hasn't gone astray.

The weather up here since Saturday has been to die for. Great for riding, but great for a whole lot of other stuff as well.

So this is the day life brings me today. Can't complain about that! A lovely day in Bright at the local commerce market. Busking by Jack for a 50 buck per hour rate (saving for a bike!). Off for a ride with the kids shortly after lunch. Then maybe an hour or so on the MTB.

Starting to relax! Life is good.

Locked and loaded - 8/4/11

• All packed up and ready to go.
• Porepunkah and paradise tonight.
• 6hrs of good fun agony tomorrow in the Bright Enduro. Just looking at the map gets me excited. Sad - I know!

• Then the Marysville to Melbourne (M2M) on Sunday.
• Then maybe some sleep!

After a smashing ride this morning it was great to get out to Warrandyte and Kangaroo Ground this arvo for some family time.

I can't say I was that delighted when I saw the queue at the Warrandyte Bakery, but we eventually had pretty full tummies.







We followed up with a visit to Tim's new place at the Bend of Islands near Kangaroo Ground. Tim has already made a massive difference to the property and by the time they're finished, it will be a piece of paradise.




We finished with a trip to the Kangaroo Ground observation tower and an ice-cream at the local store.

What a grouse day!
